In the beginning there was the disco. From those bright and shiny days in the mid to late seventies, illuminated by colored spotlights, floor lights, and scintillating reflections from ginormous disco balls making everybody dizzy, it seemed that dance culture had reached its zenith. But gestating throughout the decadent day-glo decades of the seventies and eighties was a new dance culture phenomenon that emerged in the early nineties, now known as rave culture.
Ultra Violet Makes its Début
With dance music more energetic than ever, rave culture grew and became an unstoppable phenomenon. Regular ravers decided to express their love for their culture by taking advantage of technology and introducing UV (ultraviolet) elements to their club nights.
Fluorescent clothing, including shirts, shoes, and even suspenders, were the order of the day. Dancers further embellished their luminescent look with glow sticks, UV bangles, UV necklaces, and UV paint for nails. In some venues, the occasional glowing or flashing shot glass could be spotted at the bar. By the late nineties, larger clubs were beginning to spring up, and the clothing industry took advantage by flooding the market with designer club wear, with the emphasis on UV clothing and accessories.
With self-expression at an all time high with clubbers, the UV rage has reached a new level with glowing contact lenses. Nothing looks quite so striking as being surrounded a sea of glowing eyes! With YouKnowIt’s range of eye-popping UV lenses, you’ll reach the lofty heights of modern rave culture.
