Black Swan Contact Lenses

Black Swan Contact Lenses

Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan is released on DVD today and I can’t wait to see it again. Natalie Portman’s performance was amazing and I found her transformation into the Black Swan really chilling. The make up was fantastic and Portman also wore Black Swan contact lenses, specially made for her by industry expert Kevin Crater. Crater used clear contact lenses and hand painted them using special dyes. The Black Swan look would actually be quite easy to recreate for a costume party – the main components are a black tutu and tiara, white foundation, black eye make up and a pair of Black Swan contact lenses. That black tutu looks a little chilly for October but I think this would be a fantastic option for your Halloween costume.

Best Black Swan Contact Lenses

Natalie Portman’s Black Swan contact lenses have a black centre and a bright red outer ring. Looking at our selection, I think that the closest match would be either the i-Glow Bulls Eye Contact Lenses or the Red Manga Contact Lenses. The Bulls Eye might be the closest – they have a black border as well. They are UV lenses but in daylight they look just like Portman’s lenses. To buy either of these lenses just click on the images.

Scary Red Contact Lenses

Saturday, May 14th, 2011

When you want to stand out from the crowd, red contact lenses are a fantastic option. Red lenses will always look scary and they instantly give you a really bold, eye-catching look. Here at You Know It we have a great range of red contacts including movie character lenses, special FX contacts and a large choice of Halloween contacts. There are literally hundreds of different red contact lenses available but I have picked out my top three:

Plain Red Contact Lenses

Devil Red Contact Lenses

Devil Red Contact Lenses

These plain red contact lenses are one of the most popular and versatile types of lenses. They have a very bright red colour and completely cover your natural eye colour. They are great for a gothic look and can be styled in lots of different ways. When it comes to Halloween, these red contacts show their versatility – you can wear them with so many different costumes! These contacts are suitable for vampire, zombie, devil and witch costumes to name but a few.

Cat Red Contact Lenses

Cat Red Contact Lenses

Cat Red Contact Lenses

Red cat eye contact lenses are another big seller for us. They use a clever design to give you a cat’s eye pupil. This really changes the look of your eyes and makes a dramatic statement. The red background covers your natural eye colour and really stands out. Like the plain red lenses, these contacts are very versatile. You can wear them with a cat Halloween costume as well as lots of other Halloween and movie characters.

Mesh Red Contact Lenses

Mesh Red Contact Lenses

These lenses are a brand new design that looks simply incredible! These contact lenses have a fine mesh that covers up your pupil, giving a really spooky effect. However the holes in the mesh are cleverly placed so that you can still see through the lens. Your vision might be a little blurry at first but they are fine to wear for short periods, such as to a Halloween or costume party.

Katy Perry ET Contact Lenses from the ET Music Video

Wednesday, April 6th, 2011

Katy Perry’s highly anticipated ET music video has landed and it is quite simply stunning! The video premiered on MTV on the 31st of March and it’s fair to say that Katy has outdone herself in the costume department. The whole video is a feast of beautiful starscapes, ethereal gowns, beautiful make up and fantastic contact lenses. I’m sure you have seen some of Katy’s incredible costumes so I thought I would focus on the Katy Perry ET contact lenses that she wears in the video.

Blue Katy Perry ET Contact Lenses

After a section with Kanye West, the video introduces Katy as an alien floating in deep space. For her first look she wears aqua blue contact lenses that reflect the light. They are worn with a block of red make up, strange linear cheek make up and a deep pink, red and purple gown that floats as if she is underwater. The effect is pretty stunning but the contact lenses are very similar to our Solar Blue Contact Lenses. The glow you can see on Katy’s eyes has been added in post-production but the lens colour is very similar.

Gold Katy Perry ET Contact Lenses

Katy’s outfit soon changes to a white dress with a wide collar like angel wings. Here she is wearing the pink make up seen in the promo images but instead of the aqua lenses Katy is wearing gold contact lenses with a cat’s eye pupil. They really contrast with her angelic look and look quite scary. These lenses are very similar to our Sauron’s Eye Contact Lenses. This design was actually inspired by Lord Of The Rings but it makes a great match for Katy’s look.

Black Katy Perry ET Contact Lenses

As Katy starts to fall towards a planet, her eyes change yet again. Her dress stays the same but suddenly she has large black eyes, rendered slightly blue by the lighting. These contact lenses are essentially large Black Out Contact Lenses. The Katy Perry ET contact lenses used in the video are larger than standard black out lenses and were probably specially made, but you can get a similar look with our black out lenses.

Katy Perry ET Make Up Tutorial

Saturday, April 2nd, 2011

Katy Perry ET Contact Lenses

On Sunday I told about the amazing make up contact lenses in Katy Perry’s E.T. music video but now amazing beauty blogger AndreasChoice has created a special Katy Perry ET make up tutorial, as endorsed by Ms Perry herself! AndreasChoice shows you how to recreate the shocking colours of the E.T. look in a step-by-step video that makes it all look so simple. Katy Perry linked to the video on her Facebook page and it’s perfect for anyone who wants to recreate this far out look. As you can see from the picture on the right, Katy Perry paired her extreme make up with alien contact lenses and an equally extreme hairstyle for the E.T. video. I think the hairstyle really adds to the look – her hair makes her look like a beautiful sea creature or an alien mermaid.

The one thing AndreasChoice left out of her tutorial was the aqua contact lenses Katy Perry wears in the video. Katy’s contact lenses are very similar to our own Aqua Cat Contact Lenses – the colour and cat’s eye pupil is an exact match. When wearing contact lenses with heavy make up it is important not to get any make up in your eyes – with the lenses in it’s a recipe for eye irritation. I recommend putting your Katy Perry ET contact lenses in just before you apply the last layer of eyeliner and mascara. You can then apply them and fix anything that got smudged when you put in the lenses. When it comes to removing the make up, I would take out your lenses first, so they are not contaminated with make up or make up remover.

Katy Perry Wears Alien Contact Lenses

Tuesday, March 29th, 2011

Katy Perry ET Contact Lenses

Singer Katy Perry has unveiled an extreme new look for her latest music video – E.T. Katy released two images from the E.T. video on her Facebook page as well as a short trailer for the Katy Perry ET video, which will be officially released on March 31st. The single, which features guest vocals from Kanye West, has an alien abduction theme and Katy says it is about falling in love with someone foreign and alien. Katy Perry is known for her wild outfits but her new alien look is something else! The singer is wearing amazing white and pink make up with purple lips and what look like aqua alien contact lenses. It’s a world away from her usual sexy pin up style. Just imagine what she’ll be wearing to go with this crazy make up!

Katy Perry E.T. Contact Lenses

Katy Perry ET Contact Lenses

Katy Perry’s E.T. make up is incredible but it is the alien contact lenses that really take this look into extraterrestrial territory. The lenses she is wearing are almost identical to our own Aqua Cat Contact Lenses. They have the same ultra bright turquoise colour and the vertical cat’s eye pupil. These lenses completely transform your eyes and give a very alien look even without Katy’s make up. We also have these Katy Perry E.T. contact lenses as a set with solution, tweezers and a lens case.

Blue Velvet Contact Lenses

With the sun out and the bird singing it feels like spring has really arrived here in the UK. And as soon as you get that spring feeling it’s the perfect time to update your look and brighten up your eyes. I recommend checking out our flower contact lenses for a spring style update. They come in gorgeous colours designed to open up your eyes and light up your complexion for a fresh look. There are many different types of flower contact lens but I have picked out my favourites below. On the right you can see a photo of the Blue Daisy lenses being worn. The Blue Daisy is one of my favourite designs because as you can see, it gives a beautiful wide-eyed look. Blue is known to refresh the complexion and a pair of blue flower contact lenses will really ‘wake up’ your skin and refresh your look.

Colour Vision Contact Lenses

Sunday, March 13th, 2011

Brighten up your look for spring with new lenses from Colour Vision. Colour Vision Contact Lenses are available in a huge range of colours; from natural look blended lenses to neon shades. Colour Vision is one of the few brands whose lenses are manufactured in the UK and they are excellent quality. Our lens testers found them very comfortable to wear, with no hint of dryness even after wearing them six hours. The Colour Vision Contact Lenses range includes natural colours, crazy lenses, movie contact lenses and special effects lenses.

Colour Vision Coloured Contact Lenses

Colour Vision do a great range of natural colour lenses but these solid colours are my favourites at the moment. They are just so bright and summery! These solid colour lenses completely cover up your natural eye colour and they give a really bold look. I would wear these lenses for a festival, with a Halloween costume or for a special event with an extreme outfit.

Colour Vision Mesh Contact Lenses

If you have worn coloured lenses and you want to turn it up a gear, check out these mesh contact lenses from Colour Vision. These contact lenses cover your pupil but their mesh design still allows you to see out. I have tried these lenses and the effect is a bit like being in a smoky room – you can see fairly well but I would not wear them every day. They are better for a special occasion or a Halloween costume. I think it’s worth it though, the effect is really amazing and everyone will want to know where you got such cool lenses.

2011 Movie Contact Lenses

Friday, March 11th, 2011

We may only be in March but 2011 is shaping up to be an awesome year for movies and even better for movie contact lenses. You can now get a fantastic range of movie lenses and we have most of them here at YouKnowIt.com. Movie contacts are ideal for creating costumes based on your favourite movies. They give your costume a really professional finish and they will help you to stand out – especially if your character is popular and lots of other people have attempted the same costume. They are also great for themed outfits and events like conventions and costume parties. We have movie contact lenses for some of the most popular characters including the Terminator, Avatar, Harry Potter and Alice In Wonderland.

Terminator Movie Contact Lenses

The range I am most excited about is the Official Terminator Movie Contact Lenses. This is the first officially licensed range of Terminator contacts and they look amazing. There are fifteen different Terminator lenses including the main terminators and lots of special themed lenses. Many of the Terminator lenses feature mesh centres, which looks especially shocking. These mesh centres cover your pupils but still allow you to see out. Your vision won’t be perfect but they are absolutely fine for short term wear such as a costume party.

New Prescription Contacts

Tuesday, March 1st, 2011

Until now we have only had non-prescription contact lenses but I am happy to announce that YouKnowIt.com now has a range of prescription contacts! These new contacts come in vision correcting prescriptions and are ideal for people who wear vision correcting contacts normally. The new prescription contacts range is from the brand Freaky Lenses and we currently have twelve designs, with many more on the way. At the bottom of the post are three of the designs but please click through to see the full range.

How To Buy Prescription Contacts

To buy prescription contacts you will need a contact lens prescription. If you already wear contact lenses you can get a copy of your prescription from your optician. If you wear glasses and have never worn contact lenses before, you will need to have a contact lens fitting with your optician. They will give you a prescription that you can use for normal contact lenses and the Freaky prescription contacts.

Contact lens prescriptions are measured in ‘powers’, which specify how strong the correction is. You may have the same power for both eyes or two different powers. To buy your prescription contacts from this site, first find your chosen lens. On the product page are two dropdown menus, one for each eye. Use these menus to select the power you need for each eye and hit ‘Add To Basket’. Your prescription will also list a base curve and lens diameter. Freaky prescription contacts all have a base curve of 8.6 and diameter of 14mm, which will fit most people.
