After receiving a number of questions about contact lenses, we here at YouKnowIt.com wanted to offer some friendly contact lens information. Whether you’re a newbie to the contact lens world or an advanced contact lens geek, we all need a little help from time to time.
1) Is it bad to share my contact lenses?
In a simple word – No! By all means share your bracelet, share your clothes and even share your deepest and darkest secrets. But you should never share your contact lenses. Sharing your contact lenses with others simply means you’re trading harmful germs and bacteria and I know not even the closest of people want to share that.
2) Can I wear my contacts whilst driving?
Yes, contact lenses can be worn whilst driving. However, it does depend on the contact lens we are talking about. Unfortunately, there are certain contact lens designs such as the screen and mesh contact lenses which cannot be worn as these contact lenses obstruct your vision slightly. So please be careful and if for any reason you feel as though your contact lenses are impeding your vision, do not wear them whilst operating any machinery including your car. Why not wait till you get to the party and then put them in before walking in?!
3) Will my contact lenses glow in the dark naturally?
This is a very common question. Contact lenses will not glow in the dark just on their own. They require a UV Light (i.e. a black light) in order to bring out the glow within contact lenses. UV Lights are commonly found in clubs, bars and raves meaning they will work well for you in a party environment. 4) Can I wear my contacts during certain sports?
YKI does offer a range of Freaky Prescription Contact Lenses which offer certain advantages over wearing spectacles when competing in sports. Here are a few sports where we believe you gain an advantage in sport by wearing contacts rather than glasses: -

5) Can I use tap water to clean my contact lenses?
No, tap water should not be used to clean your contact lenses. Water is a very common source of infectious and potentially damaging micro-organisms that can pose a harmful threat to your vision if mixed with your contact lenses. Therefore, YKI always recommend using our Contact Lens Solution when cleaning your contacts.
6) What should I do if my contacts become dry or dehydrated?
From time to time, if contact lenses are exposed to air whilst off the eye, they may become dry and require re-hydration. If you feel as though your lenses need re-hydration, please use the following instructions: -
1) Handle the contact lens carefully to avoid tears
2) Place the lens carefully in its recommended storage container
4) If it returns to a soft wearable state, you are free to carry on wearing them. However, if they do not become soft and the surface remains dry, do not use them and simply dispose of them as they are no longer safe to use.
